Quartz Care & Maintenance

The most common question we get from our customer is "How do I care for my quartz counter?" The reality is caring for quartz is quite simple and typically the same rules apply for any brand:

  1. Regular cleaning with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth,

  2. Do not place hot items directly on quartz surfaces. Drastic changes in temperature can cause damage.

  3. While quartz surfaces are non absorbent, don't leave spills too long!

If you're looking for specific care and maintenance information based on the brand of quartz you have, take a look below. If you can't find the information you're looking for, don't hesitate to contact Elegant Solutions. We're happy to help!

Caring for Cambria Quartz

  • Harsh and heavy-duty cleaners are unnecessary with Cambria quartz surfaces. For easy cleanup, all you need to clean your quartz countertops is warm water, a soft cotton cloth, and mild soap, if desired.

  • Cambria quartz countertops never need routine polishing or sealing, which means countertop maintenance can be crossed off your to-do list for good.

  • As with all stone surfaces, you should not put direct heat on Cambria, so be sure to keep a trivet or closed-weave hot pad handy to protect your countertops.

Caring for Silestone Quartz

  • Cleaning and maintaining Silestone surfaces is as easy as wiping with warm water and soap.

  • For anything slightly more stubborn, apply neutral soap to the affected area and gently rub in a circular motion with a damp microfibre cloth. Leave the soap to work for a couple of minutes. Then, with a cloth, wipe off any soap residue. Finally, dry it with kitchen roll.

Caring for Caesarstone Quartz

  • Everyday cleaning can be done with a soft cloth or a non-abrasive scourer dipped in warm water mixed with a mild detergent. Rinse with water, and dry with a soft cloth or paper towel.

  • Always wipe up wet spills, to prevent limescale forming.

  • Always check any cleaning product first on an inconspicuous area to ensure that it doesn’t damage the surface.

  • Note that natural, honed, concrete and rough finishes require more cleaning than polished finishes. These finishes are more prone to metal marks, fingerprints and other signs of daily living. Most of these marks can be removed with little effort and non-abrasive cleaning products.

Caring for Hanstone Quartz

  • Daily cleaning is recommend with either soap and water, a rubbing alcohol and water solution or Simple Green® diluted to 1:30.

  • Always use a non-abrasive cloth such as a microfiber cleaning cloth when cleaning to avoid dulling your surface.

  • Acetone/nail polish remover, or abrasive cleaners such as Vim® Cream cleaners, Bar Keepers Friend® Soft Cleanser, or Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser® should never be used on your surface.

  • Do not use natural stone cleaners, sealants, or enhancer on your countertop.

Caring for ST Quartz

  • Clean the surface with a mild, fragrance free soap and water.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals and solvents, such as oven and dishwasher cleaner on the surface.
